Does Reiki Really Work?

Reiki Really Works
Results are in!
Studies confirm that Reiki does help heal. How?  Energy movement, vibration, simply stated, relaxes the parasympathetic system, allows healing to occur. Natural healing vibrations are transmitted through the hands of the reiki giver to the recipient. The act of energy flowing through the body helps the recipient relax, which in turn lowers heart rate, respiration and blood pressure. Those are the measurable effects. There are also the immeasurable benefits. The effects on the autonomic nervous system enable the body to relax, and mitigate the effects of constant stress on the body, thereby allowing the body to repair itself.

I've witnessed the healing effects on hospitalized patients first hand at the Health Sciences Centre in Winnipeg, having volunteered services there for a couple of years, for both patients and Staff. (Yes, HSC has a healing room for staff, offering a number of healing modalities!) Some of my most notable experiences; helping a preemie baby go home months earlier than doctors had suggested! What a beautiful gift to the momma! One fellow was so distraught by his condition, he could not sleep for days on end, let alone try and relax. His wife requested reiki for him, and within the first 5 minutes of receiving Reiki, he was not only relaxed, he was outright snoring! His wife, and sister in law giggled happily at the sounds coming out of him. It was priceless! Offering reiki to patients relieves much anxiety, which on its own has many merits.

If you've ever received a reiki session, you will know what I am referring to. The energy shifting can be felt within the body, the relaxed state most welcoming.  The benefits of one treatment can be long lasting, depending on the issues one is experiencing. Some require a few consecutive treatments to witness big gains.

Here's an excerpt from the article:

A Brief Explanation of Reiki

"Reiki is an energy healing treatment that works holistically; on the whole body, mind and spirit. Not a system of religious beliefs, Reiki is simply a relaxing treatment whereas natural healing vibrations are transmitted through the hands of a Reiki practitioner (acting as a conduit) to the body of the recipient. The purpose of a Reiki treatment is to relieve stress and pain, induce relaxation, release emotional blockages, accelerate natural healing, balance subtle bodies energies and support other medical modalities including traditional therapies.
